Kakadu National Park Fishing Tour - Yellow Water River

Tour 5A offers a full-day fishing adventure in Kakadu National Park, perfect for nature lovers, photographers, and fishing enthusiasts. Starting with an early 6:30 AM departure, the day includes a 3-hour drive through Kakadu’s lush landscapes, followed by a peaceful morning tea at a Wetlands Billabong, where you’ll enjoy birdwatching and the serene environment. After visiting the impressive Magnetic Termite Mounds, you’ll embark on a 2.5-hour fishing tour at Yellow Water River, where you’ll try to catch the famous barramundi amidst the region’s rich wildlife. From this vantage point, you’ll spot a variety of monsoonal tropical birds—perhaps a majestic jabiru or an agile magpie goose—as well as fish and turtles gliding through the water.

The Ubirr Aboriginal Rock Art Gallery are some of the oldest and most significant in the world, with paintings dating back over 20,000 years.

After a morning of exploration, we’ll take a break to recharge with a delicious lunch at a local restaurant.

Multi-Award Winning Yellow Water River Cruise: In the afternoon, we’ll board the Yellow Water River Wildlife Cruise, one of the highlights of the tour. As you glide along the water, you will spot salt water crocodiles, an array of wetlands water birds including the famous Jabiru, water buffalo, wild horses, wild pigs, egrets and kingfishers.

Start your adventure with a tranquil soak in the healing, natural thermal pools of Katherine Hot Springs. Nestled in serene bushland, the warm waters offer a peaceful retreat to rejuvenate both body and mind.

Next, enjoy a picturesque 20-minute drive to the breathtaking Nitmiluk National Park, a land of rugged beauty and ancient wonder. Once you arrive, take some free time to explore the park: relax with lunch at the local café, hike to the lookout for stunning panoramic views, or wander along the tranquil riverfront.

In the afternoon, embark on the highlight of your journey: the 2pm Nitmiluk 2 Gorge Cruise. Glide through the crystal-clear waters of Katherine Gorge, surrounded by towering sandstone cliffs and lush greenery. This guided boat tour takes you through the first two and longest gorges, with the expertise of local River Guides who share fascinating insights about Indigenous culture, the region’s history, flora, fauna, and more.

Along the way, disembark for a 400m walk to the second gorge, where you’ll feel the magic of this ancient landscape.
