The site at the Bark Hut Inn on the Arnhem Highway, consists of a plaque dedicated in 2012, marking the site where Stuart and his party camped on 11 July 1862.

The plaque commemorated 150 years since explorer John McDouall Stuart arrived on Australia’s north shore when he became the first explorer, with his companions, to cross the continent from south to north.
