Get off the beaten track and discover the diverse landscapes of the Northern Territory – on four wheels or two, on the water or in the air.
If you like your holidays with a dose of adrenaline, a smattering of exhilaration and a spoonful of the unknown, there’s plenty in the Territory to keep you on your toes.
On the ground
There’s no shortage of adventure tours or if you’d prefer to go it alone, hire a vehicle and take a road trip. Choose from short morning strolls to multi-day hiking experiences such as the Top End’s epic Jatbula Trail or the Larapinta Trail in the Red Centre. Head off-road on a 4WD buggy adventure through the dunes around Kings Creek Station and learn about station life. Or take an epic 4WD road trip along Binns Track or the Savannah Way.
From the air
Launch into a scenic flight over a waterfall in Kakadu National Park or see Australia's best known icon from every angle in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. For a change of pace, book a hot-air balloon ride around Alice Springs for spectacular views over the MacDonnell Ranges.
Along the water
Getting out on the water is a must when in the Northern Territory. Hire a canoe or kayak to explore along the impressive sandstone walls at Nitmiluk Gorge. Jump on one of the many fishing charters in the Top End or get out onto Yellow Water as part of an adveture boat cruise for a closer look at the rich variety of wildlife in Kakadu. Join a guided Jet-ski tour where you will see some of the most beautiful coastal locations around Darwin.
