Captured this flying from Alice Springs to Yulara on a charter flight!

We can’t believe it’s already been a couple of weeks since we visited the big rock 😍🥹 Seeing Uluru truly was a bucket list adventure and we’re so glad we did it! We stayed in Yulara for 2 nights but easily could have done one more. There’s so much to do and see around the area. Uluru and Kata Tjuṯa are great for viewing at sunrise and sunset, when the light hits and the rock glows red. The National Park’s hiking tracks are also best done in the morning or evening when it’s cool! In Yulara there’s a museum and art gallery, and plenty of tourist shops, cafes, and a pub (note that most places don’t accept cash so be sure to take a bank card). The cultural centre near Uluru is also worth an hour or two of your time, with live aboriginal dot painting sessions and rich cultural history, it adds context to your visit and helped us further appreciate the site. We ended up renting bikes to do the base walk loop and we’re so glad that we did! Riding around allowed us more time to explore the key sights and saved us from the heat of the desert. I spent 3 nights in Yulara (little town in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta national park) And planned to explore the area as much as I could, attempting to take photos and viewing it from a different perspective. Then on the last night I would set up at the main viewing point, with a few beers and my 4x5, get sentimental, absorb all the energies and drill into myself that life is working out the way that it should. I committed to the beers part. On the last night I slipped into the pub to reward my self for an adventurous few days, had a couple with a local, and started getting quite comfortable and began formulating reasons why I don’t need to go and see the rock tonight. like “it’s just going to be another photo from the same view point as thousands of others” The local man said I was stupid and said I should go and take it in one last time… I agreed quickly and rushed out. After setting up, the sun had more or less set, but the energy and colour show hadn’t been compromised. Had my beer, did some minor reminiscing, and was back to the pub to reward my self again for my efforts (I enjoy rewarding myself) That night I drank at the pub until close, then clung on to some locals for the after party. After performing an contemporary dance routine to an Adele song a local man approached me sexually (can’t blame him 😝) I politely said no, he cheersed me and we had a good laugh. It was 4am by this stage so I thought it was time to wrap it up and head back to camp. I spotted a little house party on the way back, so I gave that a little gate crash, but was soon to be evicted from that. Thanks to myself getting the quick boot, I was still able to make it back to camp by 5am. Perfect timing for when everyone is lining up to get the buses for the sunrise at uluru, and me walking past in a zig zag like formation, getting heavily judged from the sprouting adventurers of the morning. Anyway, I woke up very hungover, slightly confused, and not sure if life is working out as it should. But I’m very glad I went and took the photo, ThankYou local man. Dev & scan wip.lab

Finally made it to Yulara, saw our first ever Desert Pea Flower and had our first sighting of Uluru! 😍 Yulara was established in 1967 to help support tourism and protect the environment surrounding Uluru. It provides restaurants and accomodation for those visiting Uluru and Kata Tjuta and sees a quarter of a million visitors each year! There are so many activities to do in the township of Yulara itself, including indigenous food, music and art workshops with the locals. There’s also a cinema and the Gallery of Central Australia.
